Itinerary

Day 1 – KATHMANDU (1360m)

Kathmandu, the incredibly diverse capital of Nepal is a fascinating blend of centuries old Hindu and Buddhist shrines, traditional architecture and a city embracing the 21 century. Upon arrival, your leader will transfer you to your hotel from the airport. You stay in Thamel, a popular choice with tourists, with colourful handicraft stalls, trekking gear shops and excellent restaurants. In the evening, after your trek briefing, you have the option of going out for a group dinner with your trek leader.

DAY 2 – SYABRUBESI (1470m)

Driving: 6 hours
Though the distance is not so far the road condition are often variable so we drive in Jeeps to the start of the trek at Syabrubesi. The route heads via Trisuli and Dunche and on a clear day there are fine views of Ganesh, Manaslu and as far west as the Annapurna Himal. Upon arrival you check into a local lodge and prepare to start trekking in the morning.

DAY 3 – LAMA HOTEL (2440m)

Trekking: 5 hours
You follow the road for a few minutes and complete formalities at the tourist check post. A short descent to the river leads to a suspension bridge and the gateway to the Langtang Valley. The mornings walk initially follows the left hand bank through terraced fields and forest to the village of Tiwari where you cross the river and trek to Pairo before ascending through forest to the ‘Bamboo’ tea houses where you stop for lunch. In the afternoon you continue to ascend through forest of oak and rhododendron to the village of Rimche from where it is a short distance to the group of lodges known as Lama Hotel.
Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

DAY 4 – LANGTANG VILLAGE (3420m)

Trekking: 6 hours
You continue to follow the Langtang Khola through forest of oak, rhododendron and bamboo passing beautiful waterfalls cascading down from the cliffs above the trail. As you approach the meadows of Ghore Tabela stunning views of the Langtang peaks come into view and from here you follow a wide, open alpine valley through yak pastures and past Buddhist mani stones, back-dropped by fine mountain views. There is a small monastery, just before you enter Langtang village, that is worthwhile visiting. Sadly Langtang Village was devastated by the earthquake in 2015 bringing major changes to the to area. Your stay will help the local villagers rebuild their lives.

After crossing a small bridge you ascend glacial moraines, with the lodges of Kyanjin a short walk beyond back dropped by the tumbling glaciers of Langtang Lirung (7246m). You reach the lodge in time for lunch and in the afternoon a short walk to the monastery and cheese factory is worthwhile.
